If you’ve been following buster wolf’s catalog for the past two years, you’ve noticed his releases alternate between instrumental and vocal projects. Continuing that pattern brings us to Phonons WOW!, the new instrumental project; and as with every album he drops, his sound changes directions from the previous release.

This album plays out like a collage of ideas, born out of the time spent on the back porch. The songs blend like changing moods, changing as fast as the summer storms come and go. Tracks like “bagel beach” and “hot tub” attack with ferocity; while some like “baseball stars” and “space cakes” will make you want to vibe out and start a cypher. buster wolf dips in and out of several genres; there are strong Caribbean influences, as well as obscure vintage clips that give a touch of vaporwave. With all these different sounds and sources of inspiration, buster wolf truly creates a very unique and very personal soundscape that we can all enjoy.
