Late Show Host - Palm Court - Digital
Producer Late Show Host returns with his second album, Palm Court. It was conceived and completed over the course of the summer, which heavily influenced the swampy tone of the album. The production creates a steamy atmosphere, a sound self-proclaimed as garden groove — lush euphoric keys, slick guitars, muddy bass lines, and catchy melodies, all layered over boom bap-inspired beats.
Palm Court features guest appearances from rappers Artisan P and buster wolf, who provide verses. Artisan P’s appearance comes in the form of a double-feature, on songs, “Digits” and “Storm Ashore”. On the lead single “Digits”, Artisan P navigates the dynamic, lounge music-inspired beat with some of his sharpest and straightforward lyrics to date. Similarly, horizons are broadened and explored in the instrumentation. Accompanied by a pair of live guitars, the beat evolves and becomes more layered as the song progresses.
On the album’s closing track “Jurakán”, buster wolf succinctly depicts his feelings during the past summer. He shares his personal ode to another season of hurricanes and storms, disrupting our normal routines.
